Pastor Mark Gellie’s love of sport and teaching makes him the ideal youth pastor for Barrabool Hills. Before taking up the pastoral role at the end of 2004, he used to teach PE, Health, Outdoor Education and Christian Education at Christian College. He also used to play for the Geelong Falcons, Werribee and North Ballarat in the VFL, but had to give up his aspirations of becoming a professional footballer after undergoing three knee reconstructions.
It was in 2001 that Mark gave his life to Christ, and it was obvious that God had big plans for his life, as just three years later he began serving God at Barrabool Hills. Even though Mark’s journey has encompassed challenges and personal trials, God has been faithful and is using Mark in mighty ways within the church.
In 2006 Mark was married to Amy, and they now live in their newly renovated home in Belmont with Mark’s beautiful daughter Briah.
